Our Approach
ChalkEdge is a sports data and research tool. We do not take bets, run contests or sell picks, but we know many of our members use our data for sports betting and daily fantasy. We want that to stay what it should be: entertainment, done with money you can afford to lose.
- No stat, hit rate, projection or "edge" guarantees a result. Variance is real, and losing streaks happen to everyone.
- You must be at least 18 to use ChalkEdge, and at least the legal age for sports wagering or DFS where you live (21 in many states) to place any bet or entry.
- Only bet or play where it is legal for you.
Tips for Keeping It Fun
- Set a budget before you start and stick to it. Treat it as the cost of entertainment, not an investment.
- Set a time limit. Research and play in sessions, then step away.
- Never chase losses. Increasing your stakes to win money back is a common path to bigger losses.
- Don't bet with money meant for bills, rent, savings or family. Never borrow to gamble.
- Don't play when you're upset, stressed, or drinking.
- Keep track of what you spend and what you've won or lost over time, not just the last slip.
- Use the limit tools your sportsbook or DFS site offers: deposit limits, wager limits, time-outs and self-exclusion.
Warning Signs
It may be time to take a break or talk to someone if you:
- spend more money or time than you planned, more often than not;
- chase losses or feel you have to win money back;
- hide your betting, lie about it, or feel guilty or anxious about it;
- borrow money, sell things, or fall behind on bills because of betting;
- feel restless or irritable when you try to cut back; or
- notice it is affecting your sleep, work, relationships or mood.
Taking a Break
- Self-exclusion: most sportsbooks and DFS apps let you set a cool-off period or exclude yourself completely from their account settings. Many states also run self-exclusion programs through their gaming regulator.
- Blocking tools: apps and software can block gambling sites and apps on your phone and computer.
- Your ChalkEdge membership: you can cancel anytime from your Account page. If you'd like us to close your account for responsible gaming reasons, email support@chalkedge.bet and we'll take care of it, no questions asked.
